What a success

What a fantastic weekend for the 18th Annual Herald Newcastle Home Show, presented by PJ Promotions in association with NBN Television and KOFM.
The event saw a 20% increase in visitors across the three days, with some of the most popular features of the show being home appliances, fix it handy men, and a stain queen!
The "Don in your backyard" promotion proved extremely popular with Margaret from New Lambton Heights the winner. Margaret was enjoying a massage demonstration at one of the exhibitor’s booths when she heard her name come across the Entertainment Centre’s public address system.
She made her way to the stage quite bewildered and concerned, and even after meeting Don, was still not 100% sure she had really won this visit by Don.
After being interviewed on stage, Margaret went to retrieve her husband Alan, who was left at the massage stand.
It was only when Alan joined her that she finally believed she would be travelling in the “Arrive First Class” stretch hummer with Don to view her garden and get some handy hints from the guru himself.
“I adore plants and gardening but over the years I have been unable to tend to my yard, and was wanting to refresh the outdoor areas with low maintenance flora & fauna for some time. It couldn’t have worked out better for us,” said Margaret.
When Don arrived at their lovely home, he immediately went to work plotting and planning ways for Margaret to get the most out of her gardens.
Don helped Margaret plan out a new side path, even drawing a design on how to attach her “garden” to the wall so as to not obstruct the pathway. Even more impressive was Don’s idea to create a walk way through her backyard which would inturn see the back area of her house transformed into an eco friendly environment that would be filled with life.
Not content for just her and Alan to meet Don, Margaret called her son and grandchildren over for a visit.
“My grandsons were so excited to drive back to the Home Show with us in the Hummer that was more like a disco than a car to them,” she said.
“Don in my backyard was an amazing experience.”
